🐜🦗 The Ant and the Grasshopper (Listening Test Text)
Hello. Listen to this story about two friends.
- One friend is an Ant. The Ant is very small and very busy.
- The other friend is a Grasshopper. The Grasshopper is big and likes to play music.
The Ant works hard every day. She walks to a field and carries a small piece of food. She takes the food to her house in the ground. The Ant wants to save food for the future.
The Grasshopper does not work. He sits in the sun and sings songs. The Grasshopper says to the Ant, "Hello, Ant! Why do you work? Come and play with me! Summer is fun!"
The Ant says, "No, thank you, Grasshopper. I must prepare for winter. Soon it will be cold and there will be no food."
The Grasshopper just laughs. He says, "Winter is a long time away!" And he continues to sing and play his small guitar.
Soon, the season changes. It is winter. The weather is very cold and there is snow.
The Grasshopper is very cold and very hungry. He has no food. He is sad.
The Grasshopper knocks on the Ant's door. The Ant opens the door.
"Please, Ant," the Grasshopper says. "I am cold and I am hungry. Can you give me some food?"
The Ant looks at the Grasshopper. She says, "In the summer, you sang and played. In the winter, you must be hungry. Next time, you must also work and save."
The Ant shares a little food, but the Grasshopper learns a very important lesson: It is important to plan for the future.

Of course, you can make adaptation as you wish according to the level of the students. This listening activity is intended for a beginner level of students. You can make it harder for better students. Please share your experience related to this! Happy teaching!
